Big Idea — On some basic level, many people understand that Christians are supposed to go to church. The question, though, is “Why?” Why do we go to church? Why do we have services the way we do? Why is the church involved in the community? Why do we need a pastor? What’s the point of it all? This series will explore not only what the church does, but why we do it.

• Week 1 — The Point of Congregating
If our walk with God is an individual walk, what’s the point of going to church? This lesson looks at the reason believers gather together. We’ll focus on the unity and encouragement that can be found in meeting with other believers.

• Week 2 — The Point of Church Services
So we’re supposed to congregate, but why a church service? This lesson focuses on the different aspects of a church service (prayer, worship, tithing, preaching, and so on), examining why we do these things when we come together.

• Week 3 — The Point of Reaching Out
Why are churches involved in the community? Why do we try so hard to get people to come to church? This lesson examines why the church reaches outside of its four walls. We’ll focus on the reasoning behind community engagement efforts and outreach efforts.

• Week 4 — The Point of a Pastor
What makes the pastor so important? This lesson examines why we have a pastor, what he or she does, and our responsibility to our pastor.
